Sky has opened the first of four new flagship Irish stores at Blanchardstown Centre in Dublin, with three stores to come at Crescent Shopping Centre in Limerick, Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork and Dundrum Town Centre to follow over the coming weeks.
The four stores represent the TV giant's largest retail investment in Ireland to date and will lead to the creation of 30 jobs between managerial and customer advisors roles. The openings follow Sky's recent announcement that it will enter the Irish mobile market next year.
JD Buckley, Sky Ireland CEO, said: “Our retail network has played an important role in the growth of the Sky business in Ireland for a number of years.
"As we continue to innovate and expand our customer offering, our new flagship stores in Dublin, Cork and Limerick will give customers the opportunity to get the full Sky experience across all of our innovative products and services.
"We are delighted to be opening these stores in fantastic, landmark locations and we are looking forward to welcoming 30 new recruits to the 1,000 strong Sky team in Ireland.”
The Blanchardstown stores cover 3,000 sq ft, while the other three stores will average approximately 1,500 sq ft in floor space.
The opening of the Irish stores follows the opening of a number of Sky stores in the UK over the past two years after the launch of the first Sky UK store in Liverpool in October 2020.
Sky employs just under 1,000 people in Ireland, including 750 at its head office in Dublin. The company became a primary partner of the Republic of Ireland women's football team last September.
