Deliveroo appoints Breffney Brass as Ireland country manager

Food delivery app Deliveroo has appointed Breffney Brass as its first country manager for Ireland, with responsibility for leading growth in Ireland and working with delivery riders and restaurants nationwide.

Brass, who is originally from Cork, joined Deliveroo in 2016, most recently serving as chief of staff to founder and CEO Will Shu, and she has worked in rider engagement, global communications and policy for the company.

As country director for Ireland, Brass will be responsible for the firm's commercial and operational performance.

"I’m joining a brilliant team in Ireland. This is a really important period for the Irish hospitality industry and I look forward to continuing the work that we are doing to support and grow the great Irish restaurant and grocery businesses on our platform," Brass said.

Carlo Mocci, chief business officer in the UK & Ireland for Deliveroo, said Ireland was "an important market" for the company and that it had seen "strong consumer demand and potential for great future growth.

Brass started in Deliveroo's corporate communications department before moving into operational strategy with a focus on working with Deliveroo riders globally. She was promoted to director of global communications and policy in 2019 before taking over as Shu's chief of staff in 2020.

Prior to her career, Brass worked in government affairs and management consultancy. She holds a BA degree from UCC and a master's in International Politics from Trinity College Dublin.

The latest available financial results for Deliveroo Ireland show that the company made a profit of €562,904 in 2020 after making a loss of €295,211 the previous year.

Gross profit rose 192% year-on-year from €2.9m to €8.4m as revenues from operations increased 91% from 13.8m to €26.3m as a result of surging demand brought about by the pandemic, and the company saw its net assets increase to €3.2m by the end of 2020.

The company took 147.7m orders in the UK and Ireland worth £3.6bn (€4.3bn) in gross transactional value during the 2021 financial year, representing increases of 71% and 72%, respectively.
