Aalta Bio main winner at SFA Small Business Awards

Dublin company Aalta Bio Reagants has been named the overall winner at the 2022 Small Firms Association (SFA) National Small Business Awards.

Aalta Bio develops raw materials and reagents for the development of diagnostic tests and has been at the forefront of earlier test development for diagnosis of infectious diseases, including HIV and Covid-19.

The company was one of 42 finalists selected for the awards, now in their 18th year, which celebrate the achievements of small businesses in Ireland. Aalta Bio also won in the Exporter of the Year category.

Graham Byrne, SFA chair, commented: "Adding to the company’s past success, Aalto Bio last week announced its commitment to developing diagnostic targets to 15 of the world’s biggest health risk pathogens as identified by the World Health Organisation."

Additionally, five companies were recognised in the emerging new business category - Coopman Search and Selection; Craft Cocktails; Lakeland Kayaks; BiaSol; and Sea Green Health

SFA director Sven Spollen-Behrens stated: “Small businesses are present in every village, town and city and contribute enormously to economic activity and community engagement”.
