Clubforce expands soccer reach with Comórtais acquisition

Clubforce has effected a small bolt-on buy with the acquisition of Comórtais, a competition management technology firm located in Drogheda.

The Comórtais software is used by some of Ireland's largest football clubs and leagues, and enables associations to create their own league and cup competitions.

Teams are provided with detailed match analysis and can add information like goal scorers, venues, referees and directions, all from fixtures generated by the league administrators. They can also view scores and other various statistics in real-time to manage player performance. 

Comórtais' customers include Sligo Rovers, the Floodlit Soccer League, AUL Dublin, Basketball Ireland Area Boards, United Churches League, Cork Schoolboys League, Wexford Schoolboys League and Dublin District Schoolboys League (DDSL). 

The Clubforce platform is used by over 2,000 clubs and associations to process memberships, manage their data, and raise funds online.

Clubforce said it will be integrating the Comórtais feature set into its own platform.

Clubforce CEO Noel Murray explained: "The Comórtais focus has traditionally been on football but we plan to rapidly evolve and serve other sports. The technology features we gain from this deal will make us more competitive in Ireland, the UK, and further afield.”

Comórtais Ltd had a net worth of €10,000 in December 2020.

Net Beo Teo, the Clubforce operating company, has net worth of €2.5m at the end of 2020 after an equity injection of €2.3m.

The company booked a net profit of €219,000 in 2020, and filed accounts disclose €1.4m investment in software development. The software depreciation charge for the year was €276,000.

Net Beo's balance sheet cash at year-end was €5.7m. Payments received on account amounted to €3.3m, up from €1.9m the year before.
