Cheese specialist Ingredient Solutions finds Austrian buyer

Cork cheese products producer Ingredient Solutions has been acquired by Austrian peer RUPP.

Ingredient Solutions, based in Boherbue, was founded in 2000 by managing director Ian Galletly. The company employs c.100 people in Ireland and the UK, and provides an integrated service covering all aspects of cheese, from consultancy, product design and prototype development to full production.

Ingredient Solutions supplies manufacturers of ready meals, snack foods and foodservice companies in Ireland, the UK and Europe. Annual output is c.12,000 tons of various cheese products.

The company had turnover of c €38m in 2021 and was owned by Richard Walsh, Patrick O'Neill and Ian Galletly.

Founded in 1908, Rupp is the largest family-owned company in the Austrian dairy industry, producing processed and natural specialty cheeses under the Rupp and Alma brands at four locations in Europe and Asia. The company is also active in the B2B segment.

With 750 employees worldwide, Rupp had turnover of €235million in 2021. Over 90 percent of production is exported to 65 countries. The main plant is located in Hörbranz and was put into operation in 2008.

RUPP chief executive Josef Rupp commented: “The companies complement each other from a market point of view, but especially from a product point of view they are an excellent addition to RUPP AG.

“The Irish company will continue to operate independently and will benefit from synergies and know-how transfer.”
