The Redcastle Oceanfront Golf and Spa Hotel in Donegal has unveiled the results of a complete refurbishment of the hotel’s bedrooms.
Redcastle Hotel is part of the Harcourt Hotel collection which also includes Titanic Hotel Belfast and Lough Eske Castle, Donegal.
Redcastle Hotel is built on the site of the 18th century Redcastle Estate. The original owner of the property Cathal O’Doherty died in the Battle of Kinsale in 1601. In 1986 when it was bought by property developer Pat Doherty.
Publicity blurb for the hotel declares: “The Redcastle Estate has a long and colourful history filled with romance, family, tragedy and of course the natural cycle of life and death.”
The hotel’s wedding and function suite overlooking Lough Foyle is also being upgraded, and there are plans for investment later this year plans to update the spa facilities, CARA Spa.
General manger Owen McGee commented: “This ongoing investment is a strong statement of our hope for the future and of our continued success as one of the most renowned hotels in the northwest of Ireland.
“We are delighted with the results so far. It has brought a new upbeat atmosphere into the hotel and we are looking forward to welcoming guests both new and old and seeing their reaction to how the hotel looks and feels now.”
The hotel said the colours in the newly revamped rooms reflect the “soft earthy tones of this rugged peninsula and watercolour texture carpets further embrace the complexity of land, sea and sky.
“Dark hardwood furniture contrasts with soft leather art-deco pieces as the traditional blends with the contemporary.
“Technology in the rooms has also been enhanced with the installation of new Android Smart TVs in all rooms, and the new artwork and photography which adorns each bedroom, has been carefully selected from local artists and photographers.”
Meanwhile, Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery, West Cork, has achieved 4-star hotel rating from Fáilte Ireland.
The Wycherley family built Celtic Ross Hotel on family land.

In 2021 Celtic Ross was accepted as a member of Good Food Ireland, recognising the hotel’s commitment to West Cork food producers and brands.
