Customer engagement and productivity cloud technology company Workair has appointed experienced telecoms and retail IT executive Pat Moynihan as company chairman.

Moynihan started his career at Quinnsworth (now Tesco Ireland) before joining Vodafone and then O2, leading both companies' IT departments and product development functions. More recently, he was IT director and CIO at Primark.

"We are delighted that Pat has agreed to join the board of Workair as chairman. Pat is exceptionally customer focused and has delivered significant value through the use of business intelligence technology and change management," said Stephen Mackarel, managing director and founder of Workair.

"His extensive experience and reputation will be invaluable to Workair as we continue to work with our clients to improve customer engagement and company productivity using cloud communication technology.”

Moynihan commented: "There are several reasons why I agreed to take up this role, in particular, the calibre of people involved and their vision to improve customer engagement and company productivity using cloud communication technology. I look forward to helping Workair to reach its potential.”

Workair uses cloud communication technology to help clients to improve customer engagement and company productivity.

Workair's target market is call centres, larger enterprises, multinationals and the public sector, and its clients include Viatel, AerCap, Mapfre, Windsor Motors, BidX1, SalesSense, Office of Public Works, Failte Ireland, FreeNow and others.

The company booked a loss of €89,000 in the year to July 2021 compared with a €50,000 profit a year prior.

The annual accounts filing referenced significant contract wins that provided "a significant revenue and margin boost" in the months after financial year-end.

"There is also a much stronger pipeline of opportunities now that businesses are starting to return to the office and lockdown restrictions are being eased," the company stated.

Before establishing Workair, Mackerel ran the Carphone Warehouse business in Ireland.

Payroll costs rose from €48,000 to €233,000 year-on-year and director remuneration doubled from €45,000 to €93,500.
