US Ambassador to Ireland, Claire D. Cronin highlighted the 'Empower Her' initiative as she hosted the AmCham’s Women in Global Organisations graduation, where 80 graduates were conferred by The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) from the eastern region, south and south-east region and the west and mid-west region.
Ambassador Cronin spoke to the graduates about the EMPOWER HER initiative, which aims to help U.S. companies identify how they can support and advance women in the workplace.
She detailed the Biden administration's commitment “to advancing gender equity and equality in the workplace.”
The launch of this initiative “creates a framework to promote these common goals in coordination with AmChams European Union member companies.”
The initiative, signed by AmCham Ireland, was launched by Susan Danger, the CEO of AmCham EU and Dale Tasharski Deputy Director General of the US and Foreign Commercial Service, during a meeting with Diane Farrell, Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade in Washington, DC in May 2022.
The initiative is dedicated to boosting engagement between the U.S. Commercial Service in Europe and U.S. businesses operating in Europe and Eurasia.
According to the WGO, the EMPOWER HER programme facilitates female business leaders to work in small cross-sector and cross-functional groups and provides the opportunity to share insights and gather new perspectives from within a group of peers.
The programme uses peer-mentoring to advance participants’ leadership skills and aims to take action to advance women’s economic empowerment in the workplace and women led entrepreneurship.
