Digital customer experience solutions provider TELUS International has officially opened its refurbished office space in Ballina, Co Mayo.
TELUS, which designs and builds content moderation and other customer experience tools for global brands, made the investment following its 2021 acquisition of Lionbridge, a provider of scalable data annotation services for text, images, videos, and audio.
TELUS said the €1.5m refit has equipped the refurbished offices overlooking the River Moy in Ballina with new meeting spaces, work spaces, bike storage, shower facilities, a canteen, and snooker table.
In February 2022, the company announced its attention to expand its workforce in Cork, Dublin and Ballina by 300 people.
TELUS says it helps companies test and improve machine learning models via its global AI community of over one million annotators and linguists.
The company handles all data types across 500+ languages and dialects to enhance AI systems across a range of applications from advanced smart products, to better search results, to expanded speech recognition, to more human-like bot interactions.
Marilyn Tyfting, chief corporate officer, said the 200 staff in Ballina would "elevate the level of support" provided to clients.
Enda Cunnane, senior site director, added: “We believe the facility will help us attract and engage top tech and AI talent locally as well as from across Ireland and even around the world.”
In addition to the Ballina site, TELUS has customer experience and IT delivery centres in Dublin and Cork.
The New York-listed company's products span areas such as digital strategy, innovation, consulting and design, IT lifecycle end-to-end AI data solutions.
