FoodCloud introduces zero waste food truck

Social enterprise FoodCloud has rolled out FoodCloud Kitchen, which uses excess food that would otherwise go to waste to create meals and snacks.

The company says the kitchen can be hired for community events, corporate events, festivals or special occasions.

For a private event, the food truck is normally booked for three hours but the company is happy to discuss times with customers.

FoodCloud chef Colm Burke said the kitchen menu offers a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian main course and a dessert. The menu will vary depending on what excess surplus is available and will be confirmed in advance of a booking.

FoodCloud was established in 2013 by Iseult Ward and Aoibheann O’Brien. The venture collects excess produce from retailers and distributes it to its partners.

All profits go back into FoodCloud's core activity of redistributing surplus food to over 600 community and voluntary organisations across Ireland.

The FoodCloud Kitchen is at the Stillorgan Market in south Dublin every Friday. Interested parties can book the FoodCloud Kitchen by emailing foodcloudkitchen@foodcloud.ie
