Northern Irish social care charity Praxis Care has joined the Diversity Mark scheme for diversity and inclusion benchmarks in the workplace.
Praxis Care, which offers social care services for those with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, and mental ill health, currently has c.1,800 staff and supports some 1,500 people across the island of Ireland, England and the Isle of Man.
The organisation has signed up to join Diversity Mark as a signatory and will work towards accreditation, with CEO Andy Mayhew commenting that the decision affirms its pledge to be a forward-looking employer.
“Working with Diversity Mark is an important step for us," he said. "We want this to be a recognition of our significant interest in progressing diversity and inclusion throughout all areas of the charity.
"The individuals we support every day come from diverse backgrounds and we want the staff who work alongside them every day to reflect that diversity as well."
Nuala Murphy, director at Diversity Mark, added: “Diversity Mark is thrilled to have Praxis Care join us as signatories and work towards accreditation for their commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.
"As the largest registered social care charity in Northern Ireland, we welcome their commitment to progress and know it will inspire other organisations in the sector to follow suit.”
Diversity Mark also offers support and guidance to organisations navigating diversity and inclusion challenges.
Diversity Mark this year partnered with Legal Island to offer a sole accreditation for diversity and inclusion excellence in the workplace.
