Hilary O'Meara has been named as the new managing director of Accenture Ireland, succeeding Alastair Blair, who will retire from the company in early 2023.
O'Meara will take the role on 1 January and will have overall responsibility for the growth of Accenture's business in Ireland, where the professional services giant has operated for over 50 years and employs some 5,500 people.
O'Meara has been with Accenture for almost 30 years, during which time she has held the firm's strategy & consulting, resources and technology practices.
She was appointed director of operations for Accenture UK & Ireland last August, and she will continue to serve on the company's UK & Ireland executive team in her role as country managing director for Ireland.
Simon Eaves, market unit lead for Accenture UK & Ireland, said: "We are delighted to name Hilary as the new Country Managing Director for Ireland. Hilary brings an extraordinary breadth of skills from across our business with extensive leadership experience.
"She also has a deep passion for inclusion and diversity in the workplace. Hilary’s unwavering commitment to our clients, people and communities, makes her the right choice to continue driving momentum and growth for our clients and Accenture.”
“I would also like to thank Alastair for all he has done for our business in the UK and Ireland over his career," he added.
"It is thanks to his exceptional leadership and commitment to our business, that we have grown as a business in Ireland and supported our clients through some very challenging times. I wish him all the best in his retirement."
O'Meara holds a BSc in computer science from UCD and is a member of the advisory board at the UCD Michel Smurfit Graduate Business School. She was previously a board member of Fast Track to IT.
