Two former managers of ride-sharing platform Bolt have launched Adam, a painter hire app, in Ireland after successfully launching in the UK and a number of eastern European countries.

Roman Sysel and Jakub Dvorak both joined Bolt in 2015 and contributed to the Estonian-founded firm's growth in central and eastern Europe and have now created the Adam platform to "modernise room painting".

The pair said Adam does away with long waiting times and complicated price lists, offering next-day services and an online calculator that estimates the prices of the work, allowing customers to submit their requests to experienced painters with a single click.

“We are building the future of painting services. We see some gaps in how the Irish market functions. Painting often needs to be arranged long in advance, the services are expensive, and the price is not always agreed with the client beforehand," said Dvorak.

"This was also the case in the countries where we already operate, which is why we are constantly improving the whole process and trying to create a market that functions properly for both customers and painters. Expanding to the Irish market is definitely a challenge, but the results show it was a good move and we believe the platform will also be successful in Ireland.”

The platform, which already operates in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and the UK, is already available in Dublin and Cork following a pilot period during which more than a hundred transactions in the two cities were successfully conducted over the app.

“We’re aware we’re coming to a very competitive market full of platforms that might seem similar to ours at first sight," said Sysel. "Yet we see that the current platforms actually don’t bring any significant added value either for the customers or for the professionals offering their services.

"Customers still have to spend time searching for the ideal professional among a flood of price offers, while the professionals also have to spend time sending out offers to all the customers requesting their services.

"We want to make it as easy as possible for both sides. This means customers will see the final price in advance and place an order with one click, while the painters will do only what they do best and what brings them money - painting. Adam will basically take care of the entire administration, communication and invoicing."
