Sports travel operator Sports Travel International has agreed a deal with the Irish Life Dublin Marathon to become the event's exclusive international travel partner for the next five years.
The marathon held its 42nd edition on 30 October with c.20,000 runners from over 60 countries taking part in what is now Europe's fourth largest marathon.
As international travel partner, Sports Travel International will offer accommodation packages and guaranteed entry to the Dublin Marathon, attracting hundreds of visitors and tourists to the capital.
Chris Bird, CEO of STI, said: “Our customers love this marathon and we are thrilled to be able to offer guaranteed entry and accommodation at some of the city’s best placed hotels.
“My late father was from Dublin; he grew up in Crumlin so the city really has a piece of my heart. I ran the Marathon myself for my dad in 2019 so it really is an event that means a lot to me personally.”
Jim Aughney, marathon race director, commented: “We are delighted with the partnership with Chris and his fantastic team at Sports Travel International to help grow our event significantly over the coming years.”
Sports Travel International offers similar packages for the New York City Marathon, London Marathon and Boston Marathon as well as cycling and triathlon events.
The Swords company made a loss to March 2022 of €68,000, down from €145,000 over in 2020-21, with turnover rising from €30,000 to €465,000 year-on-year following the easing of some restrictions.
