Twitter staff have called on colleagues to resign en masse in protest at new owner Elon Musk's threat to sack half its global work force.

Following news on Friday that half of Twitter's 7,500 global work force face redundancy, workers have used the social media platform to protest. One former staffer in Dublin said: "I think people should resign, to be honest, to show [Musk] that the way this is being handled is a mistake."

Since spending €44bn to acquire Twitter, Musk has made chief executive Parag Agrawal redundant and dissolved the board.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey tweeted on Saturday apologising for the redundancies.
