Accountancy firm BDO is relocating from its Beaux Lane premises in the centre of Dublin to Larry Goodman’s Miesian Plaza complex on Lower Baggot Street, which also houses the Department of Health.
The new 46,000 square foot workspace is 30% larger than the current premise in Beaux Lane where BDO has been located for the last twenty years. The new building is one of Ireland’s most energy efficient offices which has won a number of international architecture and energy awards.
Miesian Plaza is the former headquarters of Bank of Ireland. Beef baron Larry Goodman bought the building and redeveloped the interiors.
BDO said that it intends to recruit for 100 new roles across all service lines (Audit, Tax, Advisory, Consulting, Business Services and Recruitment) in 2023. The firm currently employs 500 people across offices in Dublin, Limerick and Cork.
BDO said the investment in fitting out and expanding headcount will amount to €5m, the largest single investment BDO in Ireland has made in the last 20 years.
The firm said it will continue to offer flexible working from home options for all employees, and that capacity is being increased to ensure there is a seat for every employee in the new working space.
To entice staff to the office, BDO is promising an onsite gym, Barista coffee dock, onsite lunch and dining, bike parking with lockers for all employees, drying areas, and ‘luxury’ showers and bathrooms.
Desk spaces are described as ‘stand-up electric’ (every desk can be used as either a regular or standing desk), with collaborative workspaces in the building too. BDO is also installing its own multimedia studio to create content.
The timing of the office has not been announced.
BDO Ireland is a member of the international BDO network, the world's largest European-led accounting network.
BDO globally has 91,000 people working from 1,658 offices in 167 countries and territories.
