Leo Varadkar, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, has launched the Institute of Public Administration’s Ireland – A Directory 2023, billed as Ireland's most comprehensive directory and database on public and private organisations.
The Directory, which includes a large format Diary, has been published for 57 years, and the Tánaiste was presented with a copy by Helen Brophy, the new Director General of the IPA.
The iconic publication lists c.9,000 organisations in the latest edition, including government departments, local authorities, voluntary agencies, trade and professional organisations, banks, third-level institutions, the media and EU institutions.
The Directory also provides statistics on various topics, including Ireland's population, labour, trade, public finances, social welfare, justice, health and education.
Attending the launch was Dermot Scott, who was involved with the publication of the very first IPA Directory over 50 years ago which he brought with him to the event.
Minister Vardkar commented: “Ireland - A Directory 2023 is a publication rich in detail and insight. Personnel listings take you inside public and private sector organisations in a way that is not possible through any other resource.
“Congratulations are due to the IPA which is publishing this volume for the 57th year in a row. Over that time, Ireland has evolved extensively – and that change is in turn reflected in the extensively updated content in this newest edition, supplemented by its digital app.”
Helen Brophy described the Directory as an invaluable tool to those working in the public and private sectors.
She added: “As the newly appointed Director General of the IPA it gives me great pride to be associated with this new edition of the Directory, now in its 57th year and still providing an unrivalled resource for those operating across both the private and public sectors.
"The Directory is now available both as a mobile and desktop app and in the beautifully bound, hard-cover format, which will be very familiar to long-time users. Both platforms provide a vital aid to networking and navigating within an ever-changing civil society.”
Ireland – A Directory 2023 retails at €70 and is available in bookshops and to order at sales@ipa.ie, with free delivery within Ireland.
