Vodafone has unveiled Vodafone TV, offering TV services for the first time in Ireland.

Vodafone TV is a premium service available from €40 per month to all new and existing Vodafone Home (broadband) customers.

Vodafone TV is delivered through IPTV, i.e. via high-speed broadband, and home broadband customers need a connection speed of at least 40MB per second. The company is advising customers to call into any of Vodafone retail stores to check line speeds for Vodafone TV.

Vodafone TV is being offered to customers with Simply Broadband, Home Essentials and Home Unlimited price plans, via a new 18 month contract for broadband services for €40 per month for the first six months.

The Vodafone Basic TV package provides a minimum of 55 TV channels, with the add-on of Netflix or Sports (BT and Setanta Sports), with unlimited broadband and landline calls included for €40 for six months, standard price €70 per month thereafter.

Vodafone has also launched a new TV Anywhere app where mobile customers can watch their favourite shows while out and about.  This service is included in the price of the customer’s Vodafone TV package.

Ciaran Barrett, Head of Consumer Fixed, Vodafone Ireland, commented: “This is a significant move for Vodafone in the Irish market, offering a full TV service to our customers for the first time.
