American multinational Stryker has been selected as Cork Company of the Year at the 25th Cork Chamber annual awards and dinner held in City Hall.
The medical technologies firm has been active in the Cork region since 1998 and operates at six sites where over 4,000 people are employed.
Stryker manufactures orthopaedic medical devices along with products for the treatment of brain aneurysms and strokes.
Stryker also won the international company category.
The three other category winners are:
SME - wholesale food supplier M&P O'Sullivan.
Large Company – solar power specialist Amarenco.
Emerging – LegitFit, which provides software to manage gyms and studios.
At the awards presentation, Cork Chamber president Ronan Murray noted that Stryker products and services benefit over 100 million patients every year.
“Not only have they grown their product portfolio to become one of the world's leading medical technology companies, but they have also contributed hugely to the Cork economy. They recently invested $300m in their Carrigtwohill facility, creating capacity for an additional 600 new jobs," Murray added.
The main award sponsors are AIB and Vodafone.
