Accenture has announced the appointment of Enda King as the new managing director for The Dock, Accenture’s flagship R&D and global innovation centre in Dublin.
The appointment was effected in December 2022 following Ryan Shanks taking up the role of Europe Innovation Lead for the firm.
King is a former adman who had been working in New York for the past two decades.
He joined Accenture in 2019 as the North America leader of Accenture’s acquired ‘What If’ and also acted as the lead for Accenture Innovation in the North-East region of the US.
King hails from Athlone, holds a BA Hons in Political Science, German and Italian from UCC and a post-grad in Advertising from DIT.
The Dock advertises its services on the basis that “business as usual isn’t good enough”.
According to the Accenture website: “In an era of disruption and seismic social change, we know the way the world has operated is no longer sustainable.
“We’re a diverse team of over 250 cross-industry problem solvers bringing design, business and technology together to help solve some of the most complex problems facing our clients’ industries today.
“We’re united by a shared purpose - to do good for business and society. We collaborate with powerful ecosystems of world-class companies and trailblazing start-ups to create new ways to fulfil human needs using emerging technology.”
King commented: “I am pleased to take up this new leadership role at a time when the team is using R&D and Innovation Experience to help our clients address the challenges facing their businesses.
"With our teams comprising experts across business, social sciences, design, engineering, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology, we pioneer growth futures and realise value.”
Accenture country manager Hilary O’Meara said King will have a pivotal role “as The Dock continues its innovation journey as a major hub supporting Accenture’s overall innovation globally”.
O'Meara anticipates that King’s experience will help clients “to not just provoke and disrupt the future, but also to incubate break-through solutions that solve their toughest challenges”.
