Vodafone CEO Becomes Chamber Deputy VP

Vodafone CEO Anne O’Leary has been nominated as deputy vice president of Dublin Chamber of Commerce, paving the way for her to become the chamber’s president in 2018.

Cork-native O’Leary was put forward for the position by the chamber’s 40-person council, with the appointment ratified at its AGM.

Commenting on her appointment, O'Leary said: “I look forward to the challenges that the role will bring. Between now and the start of 2018, it is estimated that the Irish economy will grow by 8%.

“The chamber is a driving force in creating the right environment for sustainable growth, and I am excited to champion the needs of a thriving Dublin that will be at the heart of a return to a stronger, more stable economic future for Ireland.”

Ms O’Leary will take up the chains of office in February 2018, subject to ratification at the 2018 AGM.

Also at the recent Dublin Chamber AGM, Derry Gray of BDO was officially elected as president for 2016, while Brendan Foster of Grant Thornton was elected as vice president.

Gina Quin, Dublin Chamber’s CEO, said that she looked forward to working with O’Leary over the coming years. “Anne brings experience that will help to grow the chamber.”

“Since 2011, Anne has volunteered her time and engaged with members to ensure that Dublin is a world-class region in which to do business. Anne has also served on the chamber’s Executive Board since 2014,” Quin added.
