Topform, Java Republic and Ash Technologies were among the winners in the Small Firms Association (SFA) Small Business Awards 2016, which were announced in Dublin last night.
Topform won the Overall SFA National Small Business Award 2016 title, as winners were selected from over 500 applications in seven categories.
Describing itself as a creative worktop solutions company, Topform developed from a traditional manufacturer of kitchen worktops to significant player in the sector. Established in 1976, the company now employs 47 people at its manufacturing facility in Gort, Co. Galway.
Top Form Ltd booked a loss of €370,000 in 2014, according to filed accounts. Year-end debtors expanded by 17% to €4.7m and year-end cash was €1,290,000. Total liabilities amounted to €1.1m and year-end net worth was €6.8m.
The seven category winners were:
• Manufacturing: EMCA, Cavan
• Food & Drink: Java Republic, Dublin
• Services: JJ O’Toole, Limerick
• Outstanding Small Business (up to 5 employees): Eirechrom, Cork
• Innovator of the Year: Ash Technologies, Kildare
• Sustainability: Gannon Eco, Westmeath
• Small Business Exporter of the Year: Topform, Galway
Announcing the overall winner, AJ Noonan, SFA chairman, said: “Topform won the Small Business Exporter of the Year category in our awards programme last year and were able to use this to leverage new business this year.
“They have shown the perseverance of true entrepreneurs and their company is a prime example of a small business punching well above its weight.”
Noonan also said that, with the right environment, companies like the finalists in the SFA competition would revitalise every corner of Ireland.
“[They will] put the Irish small business community on the map and build on the 800 jobs they have already created, delivering prosperity and quality of life to more and more people,” he continued.
“You are the future of Irish business. You have proven your commitment, drive and ambition and we are delighted to celebrate your achievements.”
