Mobile operator Three is investing €65m in an IT redevelopment that includes the integration of for O2 tech systems, inherited after Three bought the telco firm a few years ago.
Three signed up Amdocs to help it with the IT overhaul, a US-headquartered firm. The investment is in addition to Three’s previously announced network investment of €300m to provide 4G network for its two million customers.
The new contract will see Amdocs act as lead systems integrator, under a five-year managed services model to consolidate and modernise Three Ireland’s IT systems.
Commenting on the investment, Robert Finnegan, CEO at Three, said: “This €65m investment is the next step in what is an exciting journey for Three as we continue to deliver on the promises we made when we acquired O2 in 2014.
He added: “This new agreement will substantially reduce Three’s annual IT costs, which is good news for our customers.”
Eric Updyke, group president of systems integration and operations at Amdocs, said: “Our software and services will provide Three Ireland with a comprehensive, digital experience solution, leveraging customer data, digital interactions and new engagement channels to capture the world of digital immediacy and rise to a new level of customer experience.”
