Virgin Media Business has launched its search for the most innovative and exciting new business with VOOM 2016 - the biggest and mostvaluable pitch competition in Ireland and the UK.

The competition gives small - and medium-sized businesses the potential opportunity to pitch their ideas to Richard Branson to win a slice of a total prize fund worth over €1.2 million. It is open to business entrants from the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK.

Ireland has a strong culture of digital innovation and entrepreneurship, with many new start-ups emerging from our universities, institutes of technology and acceleration centres. The VOOM 2016 programme is a very competitive evaluation environment and can help to propel individuals and SMEs to the next level if they grab the opportunity.

MERIT BASED PROGRAMME
Gavan Smyth, Vice President of Virgin Media Business Ireland said: “VOOM is now open to promising Irish businesses to enter and compete for the funds and support which the winners will receive. This is an entirely merit based programme, so the most innovative, disruptive and original business concepts are the ones that could make it to the top and ultimately present their case to Richard Branson in person.

It’s now time to enter and see how far you can bring your ideas. It’s a great way of trialling your business plan and your market entry strategy. We’re really looking forward to seeing the brightest and the best Irish companies taking part in VOOM 2016.”

SUCCESS PLATFORM
Entrants will have a platform to highlight their success, give their businesses a boost and shout about the invaluable contribution they make to the economy. Throughout the competition, entrants will also receive news, tips and mentoring from industry professionals sourced by LinkedIn.

‘We’re really looking forward to seeing the brightest and the best Irish companies taking part in VOOM 2016.’

Richard Branson and a team of highly qualified judges will pick a winner in each of the two categories – ‘Start-up’ and ‘Grow’ – at a live finale in London on 28 June 2016. The entry and online voting platform is being provided by Crowdfunder, which will also be offering all entrants an opportunity to get additional funds for their business through its crowdfunding website.

PITCH COMPETITION
Virgin Media Business VOOM 2016 is the most exciting pitch competition, powered by Ireland’s ultrafast business broadband company. Last year, over 2,500 SMEs shared their business ideas. The final nine got to pitch to the panel of judges, including Richard Branson.

The idea is simple: pitch us your business idea, and if our judges like it enough, you could win a share of €1,200,000 in prizes.
