US software firm Slack is hiring 80 staff in Dublin as it expands its European headquarters. The company is relocating from the Digital Hub to One Park Place and will hire the extra staff over the next two years.
Slack took up residence in Dublin in May 2015, which was its first office opening outside of the US. The new hires will bring the firm’s Irish headcount to 180 by the end of 2017, in a move being supported by IDA Ireland. Slack’s new European HQ occupies 29,000 square feet.
The company’s product is a messaging app for teams, which brings communication, file sharing and other tools together in one central platform. It integrates with dozens of services such as Twitter, Dropbox and Zendesk.
James Sherrett, Slack’s Dublin-based senior manager of accounts, said that customer growth and adoption across all markets in Europe was driving the firm’s expansion.
He added: “We are the fastest growing business application in history. Our user base grew tenfold last year and we’re seeing strong demand across all industries and from businesses of all sizes, for more efficient and effective team communications.”
Slack’s customers include global enterprises like News Corp., eBay and Samsung, as well government agencies including the FAA and US State Department.
The firm was co-founded by Stewart Butterfield (pictured), who gave a keynote speech at last November’s Dublin Web Summit.
