Aerogen CEO John Power has scooped the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the RSM European Business Awards ceremony held in Milan.
The award goes to the outstanding individual who can best demonstrate exceptional vision and leadership in the establishment and development of an owner-led business.
Aerogen was one of 110 companies, from an original list of over 32,000 companies across Europe, that was awarded the Ruban d'Honneur citation, as well as winning its Entrepreneur category award. Of the 110 recipients of the Ruban d'Honneur, Ireland was represented by ten companies, the highest number of finalists from any European country.
Aerogen has grown from a small startup in Moycullen, Co Galway to become a world leader in the field of acute care aerosol drug delivery. Aerogen medical devices are used to treat patients in over 70 countries around the world and over three million patients have benefited from their unique products.
Power (pictured) commented: "I am proud to accept this award on behalf of the entire Aerogen team. It is their dedication and that of the care givers around the world who use our products to treat the most critically ill patients that has resulted in this success."
Europe’s biggest business competition generated 227,000 votes in its public vote. The 11 category winners went through a process of written submissions, video entry judging and face-to-face interviews, and were shortlisted as one of 678 National Champions and 110 Ruban d’Honneur recipients before reaching the final.
In the 2015/16 competition, all EU member markets were represented plus Turkey, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia and Macedonia.
