Conaty Food and Catering Supplies has completed the acquisition of Wicklow-based catering supplies wholesaler Irish Distributors Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

Conaty recently launched Ireland's largest hospitality showrooms at its Dublin depot and projects that turnover will surpass €50m this year.

Revenues rose to €37.1m in the year to the end of January 2024, with operating profit also increasing year-on-year from €1.2m to €2m.

The company is also exploring further acquisition opportunities for foodservice and hygiene firms in Leinster as it seeks to consolidate its position in the hospitality sector.

Conaty expects that the deal for Irish Distributors will primarily strengthen its hygiene offering, an area in which it has seen large growth since Covid.

Cathal Conaty, CEO of Conaty, described the acquisition of Irish Distributors as "extremely exciting".

“Having tripled our revenues over the past five years and now set to hit €50m in 2025, Conaty's is on the acquisition trail," said Conaty.

"The deal for Irish Distributors Ltd marks a new phase for the company as we further diversify our offering and build on our relationships with our customer base of 3,000 businesses across the hospitality sector.

"We are currently exploring further acquisitions, have several significant online projects currently underway and plan to open a new distribution centre in the near future.”

Established in 1970, Conaty is a family-owned business with depots in Blanchardstown and Navan.

The company has more than 3,000 clients, including hotels Adare Manor, Carton House and the K Club.

It supplies trending products in foodservice, tableware, glassware, barware, takeaway packaging and hygiene.

The company has around 150 employees.
