Mace has launched a Food... Too Good to Waste initiative in collaboration with StopFoodWaste.ie to help people make the most of their food, keep it fresher for longer and avoid food waste.
The convenience retailer said that the average household puts €700 worth of food in the bin every year, and that it wants to make 2025 the year that people reduce the amount of food they waste.
According to StopFoodWaste.ie, the government funded website, among the everyday foods that are wasted include:
- 50% of salads are wasted
- 25% of fruit & veg
- 20% of bread
- 10% of meat and fish
- 10% of yoghurts, milk and dairy
Mace has partnered with chef, author and influencer Conor Spacey to provide six recipes using the foods that are the most wasted in Ireland.
The six recipe videos will be published on Mace’s social media platforms on a weekly basis and will help families make the most of their grocery shops and play their part in the Stop Food Waste movement.

The six videos will be released on the following dates:
- Saturday, 1 March Roast vegetable frittata
- Tuesday, 11 March Vegetable pasta bake
- Friday, 21 March Yoghurt flatbreads with spicy chicken
- Monday, 31 March Sunday leftovers curry
- Thursday, 10 April Potato & carrot gnocchi
- Monday, 21 April Strawberry blondies
All recipes can be found on the Mace website and videos can be viewed on YouTube.
