Retailer Currys have revealed the price of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 as the store opens pre-sale.
The latest console from the creators of the NES, Super Nintendo and WII, is described as introducing "a whole new level of gaming with its 7.9-inch 1080p screen, delivering crisp visuals and smooth gameplay with support for HDR, VRR, and up to 120 fps.
Gamers can even enjoy 4K resolution when docked to their TV and the revamped Joy-Con™ 2 controllers feature magnetic connectors, and for the first time, can be used as mouse controllers in compatible games.
New exclusive titles like Mario Kart™ World will be available to experience only on the Nintendo Switch 2, alongside access to your existing Nintendo Switch game library.
The system also brings fresh social features like GameChat, allowing players to chat, share screens, and even video call via a USB-C® camera (sold separately).
But all this new tech comes with a hefty price tag, with the handheld console coming in close to the PS5.

Pre-orders are now available in all of Currys 16 stores and for online registration of interest at www.currys.ie.
The official launch of the new console is set for the 5th June, priced at €469 for the standalone console and €505 with the Mario Kart bundle and the new system will be available both online and in Currys stores nationwide.
