Jonathan Anderson has been confirmed as the new artistic director of Dior menswear.

Anderson, who is the son of former Ireland rugby captain Willie Anderson, had previously been the creative director of Spanish luxury fashion house Loewe for 11 years before stepping down in March.

The news that Anderson would take over the helm at Dior menswear was announced by LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault at a shareholders meeting in Paris.

Anderson is working on the Dior Homme summer 2026 collection, which he will present in Paris on 27 June this year.

“I can tell you that the next Christian Dior men’s fashion show, which will take place in June (in Paris), will be created by Jonathan Anderson,” Arnault said.

The move was confirmed by Anderson to his 1.2m Instagram followers during the week when he posted a Dior label alongside a four-leaf clover.

He was flooded with goodwill messages from his fans, with many saying they were 'excited' to see his new collections.

The Magherafelt man has in the past made headlines for creating Rihanna's 2023 Super Bowl half-time performance attire and Ariana Grande's 2024 Met Gala gown.

The move is part of a major reshuffling of jobs at global fashion brands following some resignations and forced departures.

Anderson replaces British designer Kim Jones at Dior Men, who stepped down at the end of January after seven years.

Many labels are either bedding in new designers or looking for fresh talent, including Chanel, Celine, Fendi, Givenchy, Gucci, Dries Van Noten and Tom Ford.

Anderson trained at the London College of Fashion before beginning his career in Prada's marketing department.

He launched his own label in 2008, before being appointed as Loewe's creative director in 2013.

He has won several high-profile awards, including Designer of the Year at the 2024 Fashion Awards for the second year in a row.
