Eversheds Sutherland LLP has announced several promotions with effect from 1st April 2025 across all levels within its Dublin and Belfast offices, including the appointment of four new Partners.
The promotions across the firm’s lawyer group include three colleagues to Of Counsel, seven Associates to Senior Associates, and six Solicitors to Associates.
Aonghus McClafferty in the Dispute Resolution & Litigation team, Corrina Cassidy in the Real Estate team, and Chelsey O’Doherty and Nuala Maguire in the Construction & Projects team have all been promoted to Partner.
McClafferty has a wealth of experience in commercial litigation, particularly in large-scale property disputes.
His expertise covers shareholder and contractual disputes, landlord-tenant issues, and Public Procurement Judicial Review proceedings.
Additionally, he has provided counsel on insolvency matters and has represented clients in debt recovery and enforcement.
He has also acted for financial institutions in the appointment of receivers and assisted multiple companies through MVL/CVL procedures.
Cassidy specialises in distressed property sales and all aspects of commercial property law.
She plays a key role in supporting the real estate components of corporate and banking transactions.
Her advice spans the acquisition, disposal, and management of both Northern Irish and UK properties, negotiating complex real estate agreements, as well as commercial leases for office, retail, leisure, and hotel properties.
Cassidy also has extensive experience in restructuring and refinancing property assets.
O’Doherty focuses on energy and infrastructure projects, with particular expertise in the development, construction, and M&A (including joint ventures and investments) of renewable energy assets, digital infrastructure, and transport projects.
She offers guidance on public-private partnerships (PPPs), concessions, and similar structures, advising developers, owners, investors, and funders on the construction, financing, acquisition, and sale of wind, solar, battery storage, and gas projects.
Maguire brings significant experience advising both public and private sector clients on a wide range of legal and contractual matters within construction and procurement law.
She has expertise in various forms of construction and engineering contracts, such as JCT, FIDIC, NEC, and RIAI, and also handles collateral warranties and joint venture agreements for real estate developments.
Maguire has also worked extensively on commercial contracts, including the drafting and negotiation of agreements for the supply of goods and services, such as IT and healthcare products.
In addition, Aoife Uí Mhaoilmhichíl (Real Estate), Liam Boyle (Company Secretarial) and Sophie Dudley (Corporate) have been promoted to Of Counsel.
Alison McSherry (Real Estate), Amritha Kumar (Corporate), Daniel Jackson (IP, Technology & DP), Pamela Brennan (Tax), Philip Reynor (Dispute Resolution & Litigation), Thomas Costello (Dispute Resolution & Litigation), and Vanessa Lawlor (Corporate) have been promoted from Associate to Senior Associate.
Ciaran Murdock, Daire O’Herlihy and Eoghan Flynn in the Dispute Resolution & Litigation team and Gillian Blanche, Sarah McKaigue, and Sean Canavan in the Real Estate team have all been promoted from Solicitor to Associate.
