The Dropping Well in Milltown has just launched an enticing new seasonal menu, reaffirming its place as a standout destination for both casual dining and private events in the capital.
Perched on the banks of the River Dodder at Classon’s Bridge, the gastropub is steeped in history, having first opened its doors in 1847 during the Great Famine.
Now part of the Chawke Pub Group, the venue has evolved into a food-focused haven known for its atmospheric interiors, warm service, and riverside charm.
Head Chef Virlan Constantin has crafted a menu that pays homage to Irish culinary heritage while embracing bold, modern flavours.
“We wanted to strike a balance between comfort and creativity,” says Constantin.
“Each dish reflects the best of Irish seasonal ingredients, and we’ve built a menu that feels both familiar and fresh.”
New highlights include Beef & Guinness Croquettes, Pan-Seared Kilkeel Scallops, and a perfectly cooked Black Angus Fillet Steak, alongside refined mains like Fillet of Wild Atlantic Halibut, Chargrilled Pork Chop, and Homemade Parmesan & Herb Gnocchi.
For those with a sweet tooth, standout desserts such as Baileys Tiramisu and Aero Cheesecake round off the offering.
General Manager Trish Roddy adds, “Our goal is simple: serve great food in a space that feels genuinely welcoming.
"Whether you're here for a relaxed Sunday lunch or celebrating a milestone event, we aim to offer something memorable every time.”
Beyond the menu, The Dropping Well boasts a range of private event spaces designed for everything from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations.
The elegant Bank Function Room can host up to 120 guests seated (or 200 standing), while the Dodder Room and heritage-rich 1847 Lounge offer more intimate settings.
For music lovers, Boxer Maher’s Bar is available for private hire with live performances every Saturday.
