Marks and Spencer is to reward their Irish customers and staff members for their loyalty after they were hit with a crippling cyberattack in April.

The group was forced to halt website orders on April 25. It resumed online shopping only in mid-June, after more than six weeks.

Customer personal data was also taken by the cyber criminals in the attack

There were reports the attack could have cost M&S more than £300m.

However, M&S Ireland has now announced that its Sparks loyalty scheme is fully back online.

And in a move designed to recognise the support of their customers, it will feature a range of thank-you treats and rewards.

The retailer previously announced a similar scheme to thank its UK customers.

M&S will treat customers with a range of rewards across fashion and home, appearing in the Sparks hub.

Plus, the store's coffee stamp scheme will soon be reinstated across M&S Cafés across Ireland.

It allows customers who have collected their six stamps a free coffee in their Sparks hub to redeem during their next visit.

M&S will also be giving out over 34,000 birthday treats to those celebrating this month, as well as belated birthday treats for customers who had celebrations in May or June.

Customers will be able to choose between some of M&S’s best-selling food products, including Belgian Chocolate Truffles, All-Butter Cookies and Outrageously Chocolatey Round Biscuits, of which M&S sells over 2.6 million packs a year.

The retailer also recenlty bolstered its 20% colleague discount to 30%, for staff to use across fashion, home and beauty, including third-party brands.

In another change for the first time outside of Christmas, M&S will extend the 10% discount to over 2,500 contractors from across its supply chain and partners.

This includes Gist Limited, the principal contract logistics provider to M&S Food, as well as security and cleaning contractors and in-store beauty advisors from Clinique and Estée Lauder.

Sharry Cramond, director of loyalty, fashion, home and beauty marketing and M&S Masterbrand, said: “Over the last three months, our colleagues have demonstrated real commitment and teamwork.
