Gallagher to double Irish presence following $13.45bn AssuredPartners acquisition

Global insurance broker group Gallagher expects to double its presence in Ireland after completing its $13.45bn acquisition of AssuredPartners, the owner of insuremyvan.ie and coverinaclick.ie among other online brokerage brands.

The worldwide transaction is the largest insurance broking acquisition ever completed and will see Gallagher absorb 300 staff in Ireland, bringing the size of its workforce here to nearly 600.

Gallagher will also add locations in Cork, Clare, Louth, Monaghan, Meath and Cavan to its existing offices in Dublin, Wexford, Kerry, Kilkenny and Limerick.

AssuredPartners has a strong presence in Ireland through through Gallivan Murphy Insurance Brokers (GMIB), O'Callaghan Insurances and CFM Group, which operate brands including Cosmetic Insure, Quoteee.ie, Insuremyvan.ie, Insuremyhouse.ie, Coverinaclick.ie, Insuremycars.ie, Missquote.ie, Insuremyshop.ie, Insuremytaxi.ie, Insuremyholiday.ie and Lifebroker.ie.

Gallagher already owns First Ireland, a leading provider of personal lines products, and has expanded in Ireland through the acquisitions of INNOVU, Doyle Mahon Insurances and Keaney Insurance Brokers in recent years. Those firms now trade under the Gallagher brand.
