The Hot Box Sauna has announced plans to open its largest location to date at the Boland Mills development in the Dublin docklands.
The sauna operator said the opening would represent an investment of €2m and create 15 new jobs.
The facility will feature saunas, including Ireland's first wheelchair-accessible sauna complete with a custom-designed sauna-friendly wheelchair, as well as plunge pools and dedicated relaxation zones.
“Bolands Mills is more than just another opening for us, it’s a statement about where sauna culture in Ireland is headed,” said Dan O’Connor, co-founder and chief marketing officer of The Hot Box Sauna.
“The Hot Box Sauna Bolands Mills is a wellness destination that combines centuries-old sauna traditions with a modern Dublin setting.”
The multi-purpose Boland Mills development will feature living, working and leisure areas, and Hot Box Sauna said the new flagship sauna would play "a central role in activating the Docklands’ waterfront for residents, workers, and visitors alike."
Ireland's sauna market is estimated to be worth €10-20m and is being fuelled by trends such as cold-water swimming, wellness tourism and alcohol-free socialising.
In addition to Boland Mills, The Hot Box Sauna also plans to open a new location in Galway later this year and enter international markets.
Founded by O'Connor, chief financial officer Luke Williams and chief operating officer Liam Irwin, The Hot Box Sauna began as a self-built sauna trailer beside the River Boyne in Bective, Co Meath in 2021.
The business now operates 15 sauna across six locations in Dublin, Meath, Sligo, Louth and Kilkenny, employing 60 staff in total.
The company serves around 24,000 customers each month, and all its saunas are made by sister company Aalto Saunas.
