6D Global Technologies, a US digital business solutions company which has announced plans to open an office in Ireland, has seen its share price tumble in recent weeks. The tech minnow is being funded by IDA Ireland, which announced recently that 6D plans to create 60 jobs in Ireland over the next three years.

Shares in 6D have been subject to high trading volatility since the company, ticker SIXD, joined four Russell indices at the end of June 2015. Observers note that inclusion in these global market indexes may cause higher trading volume and increased price volatility, which often have no correlation to a company's fundamental business performance.

6D booked a net loss of $1.76m on turnover of $3.2m in the three months to end June 2015. For H1, the net loss was $2.1m on income of $6.5m.

In Nasdaq trading, 6D’s share price has collapsed from a peak of $12 in mid-July to under $2 recently.

Tejune Kang (pictured), founder and CEO of 6D, commented: “The entire management team of 6D Global Technologies is committed to maximizing long term value for our shareholders. We are moving forward well in the execution of our business plan.

“6D Global Technologies is excited about our business progress as we continue to deliver results for our customers, employees and shareholders. We anticipate another year of continued growth in 2015.”

6D’s Irish office will provide sales and solution support to the company’s European business. “We are seeing a tremendous demand from our customers to have one digital solution partner that is positioned to support their growth globally,” said Kang. “When we assessed where to establish our European base of operations, Ireland was a logical choice given its growing reputation in driving world-class innovation and access to talent.”

6D Segments

6D has two segments, Content Management Systems and IT Staffing. The CMS services include web analytics, content management, marketing and mobile applications. The company also provides contract IT staffing solutions. In America, the company says that clients include Nike and McDonalds.

6D worked with Nike on a Nike Kiosk to provide customers with an interactive shopping experience, giving them detailed information about different sports bras and athletic trousers available to them.

Kang, 39, founded Six Dimensions in 2004. A Silicon Valley native, Kang was an engineer with PeopleSoft (now Oracle) and also dabbled in property through Kang Management Group, a commercial real estate developer in Nevada.

In May 2015, 6D acquired Storycode, a company that designs and creates mobile communication tools for large enterprises. In August, 6D launched 6D DPS Entitlement System, a software platform for marketers and publishers. Publishers can enable subscribers or members to access content or products, and the interface makes it possible for non-technical people to use the system. 6D Global leverages off Adobe’s Digital Marketing products.

The company recently raised $10m in new equity from a mutual fund institutional investor. “We are very pleased with the strong support the company has received in completing this equity financing,” said Kang “We believe the infusion of capital enables 6D Global to expand its product offerings through further synergistic acquisitions and create new services and software products.”

6D claims to foster creativity with regular workplace events like Whiteboard Wednesdays and Lighting Rounds, where staff take turns presenting on topics they are excited about. 6D also runs 6D Labs, where staff collaborate in a creative workspace to generate new ideas and best practices.

ConnectIreland

6D Global has landed in Ireland through ConnectIreland, which rewards individuals who attract foreign companies to Ireland with ‘connector’ bounty payments of between €1,500 and €150,000, depending on the numbers of new jobs involved.

Anyone can register as a connector and refer a company.  ConnectIreland was founded in 2012 by Terry Clune, CEO of Taxback Group. Clune funds the operational costs and the jobs bounty is paid by the state.

ConnectIreland’s success stories include Proseedr Technologies (16 jobs), Absorb Technology (12 jobs), Nagni Group (50 jobs), Flagship Management (15 jobs) and Passion Spiruline (13 jobs).
