Broadband provider SIRO is partnering with Viatel to deliver its high-speed connectivity to Irish businesses. SIRO has previously partnered with Viatel’s owner, Digiweb, to provide fibre broadband to homes and small businesses in regional towns in Ireland.
SIRO is a joint venture of ESB and Vodafone, providing ‘fibre-to-the-building’ broadband connectivity using ESB’s infrastructure. The fibre-optic connection allows for up to 1 Gigabit speeds.
Viatel is a sizeable Irish-owned provider of voice, data connectivity, data centre and managed software-defined network solutions in Ireland. As a result of the SIRO partnership, Viatel expects to connect 2,000 business and public sector customers to dedicated Gigabit services over the next 12 months.
“With no copper anywhere in our network to slow it down, SIRO is providing Irish businesses with world-class speeds and service, and now, through our partnership with Viatel, even greater choice, driving competition in Ireland’s broadband marketplace,” said Ronan Whelan, commercial director with SIRO.
Damien McCann, director of sales and marketing for Viatel, added that the SIRO partnership significantly enhances his firm’s network reach and service offering for clients.”
The SIRO network now covers more than 160,000 premises, with services live in 30 towns.
