UrbanVolt Adds ‘Quick Cut’ Calculator

UrbanVolt, which provides ‘light as a service’ via its energy-saving packages aimed at businesses wishing to cut their energy use, has devised an online calculator to allow firms calculate energy savings.

The calculator enables customers to generate an accurate quote for the cost of an LED lighting upgrade in minutes. The quote also provides details of the savings and the reduction in CO2 emissions they will achieve if they do the install.

The company upgrades commercial buildings to LED lighting for no upfront capital cost, enabling companies to save up to 75% on their lighting energy costs while also reducing their carbon emissions.

The client pays a monthly charge for the first five years, during which time UrbanVolt also maintains the lights. The charge is based on a number of factors including the light level required, the building type, installation costs and the duration of the contract.

Potential clients can now assess their needs and costs using the new calculator, rather than having a quote prepared following a query.

Chief executive Kevin Maughan  (pictured) said: “The most important thing for our customers is the accuracy, ease and speed with which they can access clear information on what a lighting upgrade looks like. Chief financial officers don’t want a sales pitch. They want to see figures and a detailed breakdown of the savings they will make by upgrading to LED. That’s what our calculator gives them without the hassle and cost of traditional surveys.

"We’ve put a huge amount of work into developing the algorithms behind the calculator so that potential clients can instantly quantify the benefits of working with us. One of the added benefits of the calculator is that the light levels it bases its analysis on are recommended industry standards.

“This is a great comfort to companies from an environmental, regulatory and safety perspective. In addition, many clients have commented on the more comfortable working environment and the increased productivity which has resulted from the change to LED,” Maughan added
