Dassault Systèmes has opened a new office at Phoenix House in Cork, doubling its space in the city.

The company says it “provides business and people with virtual universes to imagine sustainable innovations”, adding that its approaches can “transform the way products are designed, produced, and supported”.

Country manager Kevin O’Leary said: “We have an outstanding team in Cork, delivering innovation and growth across our global client base. With this new investment, we now have the foundation from which to accelerate our cross-industry expansion.”

Several interactive demonstrations were showcased at the opening (pictured), including a 3D demo of a Living Heart .

Coupled with a virtual-holographic platform, this provided a glimpse into the future of heart medicine, where cardiovascular experts can explore treatment options, educate their patients, or study the efficacy of new medical devices and predict reliability under real-world conditions.

The City Project demo of Singapore and the French city of Rennes demonstrated how to address the challenge of urbanisation, which is to put people at the heart of the renewal process. The project provides a 3D collaborative environment where data from sensors and city systems is pooled in a “virtual referential that benefits everyone”.

Dassault Systèmes is headquartered in Paris and employs over 17,000 staff worldwide.

Donal Travers, Head of Enterprise Technology Group at IDA Ireland, commented: “As a source of foreign direct investment, Europe continues to be a hugely important market for Ireland.  Companies are attracted to Ireland due to the talented multi-lingual and tech savvy workforce."
