IT@Cork is to host its eighth Tech Summit on May 9 at Cork City Hall. The annual event sees a slew of speakers and business leaders from the ICT sector discuss all matters related to tech.
Speakers announced for the event include:
- Robert McArdle of Trend Micro, who is involved in analysing the latest Cybercrime threats
- Dr Andrea C. Johnson, Director of Global Business Systems at Workhuman, a continuous performance management platform
- Bill Boorman, MD of Recruiting Daily, who will address issues relating to the future of work, talent management and talent tech.
- John Riordan of Shopify, who leads a variety of different customer support teams for the -commerce company
- Sean Sheehan, CEO of Wisetek, a global provider of end-to-end IT asset disposition services
IT@Cork chairperson Caroline O’Driscoll commented: “The region is primed for growth, tech companies are coming here in their droves, and those already here are growing significantly.” O’Driscoll instanced the recent arrival in Cork of Clearstream Global Securities Services and US cyber security company Forcepoint.
“Overseas technology companies in the region currently employ 17,000+ people, and we believe this could double in the next 10 years,” she added. “Attendees can use the event to prepare for the tech future in which we will live and work, and can benefit from take-home practical advice that they can apply today in the workplace.”
Several themes have been flagged for discussion at the event, such as cybersecurity, attracting and retaining talent, diversity and inclusivity within the organisation and sustainability in the circular economy.
IT@Cork currently represents over 300-member companies with over 30,000 employees from both indigenous and international IT firms. Its members are drawn from multinationals, government, the public sector, academia, SMEs, and the legal and financial professional services community.
