Volkswagen has signed up model, singer and actor Cara Delevingne as the ‘face’ of its new T-Cross SUV, putting her at the centre of a publicity campaign including a TV spot, print and billboard ads, and digital and social media.
VW says the T-Cross is extremely versatile, and versatility is the focus of the ad campaign, using the hash tag #MoreThan1Thing. The campaign was created by the agencies DDB Berlin, DDB Hamburg and adam&eve/DDB London. The TV spot is to be shown throughout Europe.
The T-Roc, which the company says rounds off its smaller SUV range, is priced from €22,495 and comes with a choice from three engines and four levels of specification.
The entry point is the 1.0-litre 95hp (112g/km) petrol engine, followed by the 1.0-litre 115hp petrol engine (111g/km) proced from €24,495. The 1.6-litre 95hp diesel costs from €25,295.
The T-Cross is 54mm longer than the Polo and 138mm higher. The luggage compartment holds between 385 and 455 litres due to a sliding rear bench.
There are four ‘trim lines’, as against VW’s usual three. The entry ’T-Cross’, the ‘Life’, which starts at €24,550, the ‘Style’ starting at €26,795 and the ‘R-Line’ at €27,995.
The Life model gets 16” alloy wheels, 8” infotainment system, App Connect, Climatronic Air Conditioning, two USB interfaces and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The Style model has 17” alloys, LED headlights, and a chrome package, while the R-Line model has 17” Sebring wheels, a spacial exterior package and, as options, 18” wheels and an R-Line interior package.
