Virtual & Augmented Reality has raised €575,000 in funding through Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start Up programme and has moved into new offices in Temple Bar.
VRAI specialises in virtual and augmented reality, with clients such as Samsung, IAG and the United Nations, as well as domestic clients such as the ESB and Kingspan. The new funding will go towards developing its VR training platform billed as HEAT – Hazardous Environment Awareness Training.
The company says that HEAT enables employers to prepare their staff to work in hazardous environments but with reduced risk, improved operational outputs and data driven insights into performance.
VRAI was founded by joint managing directors Niall Campion and Pat O’Connor. Campion has a background in digital content creation, working in film, TV and interactive design, while O’Connor spent 20 years in the Defence Forces.
According to Campion: “We are building an innovative and creative technology company where diverse teams are empowered to do great things. We feel that virtual and augmented reality can have a transformational impact on business in the coming years and we aim to lead that transformation for our clients.”
VARI is part of the Tyndall National Institutes Holistics consortium that has sourced state funding from the Disruptive Technology Innovation Fund.
