SwiftQueue, a 2011 startup that designs booking software for the healthcare sector, has secured a €550,000 cash injection from Kernel Capital and Enterprise Ireland.
The investment comprises €300,000 from Kernel Capital through the Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Fund, with the remainder of the funds provided by Enterprise Ireland.
SwiftQueue’s healthcare appointment software allows patients to book their various appointments online, and is used by hospitals and clinics across the UK and Ireland.
The SaaS platform is expected to facilitate over one million online appointments this year with current customers that include Royal Free London NHS Trust; George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, St. James’ Hospital and The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
SwiftQueue is also industry partner on the Irish government’s new €5m ARCH Research Programme.
SwiftQueue’s founders are Brendan Casey (CEO) and Declan Donohoe. Casey (41) worked for over 15 years in IT, which included senior positions in Idiro Technologies and consultancy work with Oracle.
Donohe (42) previously worked in recruitment and in IT with Bank of Scotland and Bank of Ireland.
SwiftQueue is headquartered in Trinity Enterprise Centre in Dublin and employs 10 people. Previous funds raised by SwiftQueue included €50,000 from Enterprise Ireland and €30,000 from DCU Ryan Academy.
Account filings for 2014 show that SwiftQueue booked a profit of €70,000 to bring accumulated losses back to €17,000. The firm also grew its debtor book over the year from €30,000 to €155,000.
Speaking about SwiftQueue’s latest funding, Brendan Casey said that it would enable SwiftQueue to expedite its growth plans.
He added: “Increasing efforts to address the challenges in today’s healthcare systems have seen a greater emphasis on the use of technology to deliver integrated and efficient solutions that improve patient engagement.”
Donal Duffy, head of Enterprise Ireland relations at Bank of Ireland, said: “This latest investment in SwiftQueue provides a win-win situation all-round – enhancing the patient experience while increasing productivity for the health provider.”
