Suir Engineering has announced the appointment of Dermot Gildea as director of engineering and offsite manufacturing.
Gildea joins the business with over three decades of experience in the engineering and construction sector, holding a variety of senior leadership roles and overseeing the delivery of major engineering projects across multiple sectors.
Suir Engineering said his appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to technical excellence, innovation and the continued growth of its offsite manufacturing capabilities.
In his new role, Gildea will be responsible for Suir Engineering's engineering and offsite manufacturing strategy, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving scalable, sustainable solutions for clients across all projects.
“We are delighted to welcome Dermot to the team,” said John Kelly, chief executive at Suir Engineering.
“His reputation in the industry, depth of experience, and leadership capability will play a crucial role as we continue to invest in innovation and expand our delivery model to meet the evolving needs of our clients."
Founded in 1984, Suir Engineering was acquired in 2022 by private equity group Duke Street from Dalkia and EDF Energy.

The company provides mechanical, electrical and instrumental engineering services in the areas of data centres, energy, power & renewables, pharma & life sciences, food & beverage and semiconductors.
Although turnover fell from €429.3m to €400.5m last year, profit at Suir Engineering Ltd rose from €9.5m to €22.6m last year. Gildea's announcement follows the appointment of Anthony Ryan as environmental, health and safety director last month.
