Colin Farrell has won Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television at the Golden Globes for his performance in Batman spin-off series The Penguin.
It is the third Golden Globe Farrell has won in his career after twice winning Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for In Bruges in 2009 and the Banshees of Inisherin in 2023.
The Dublin actor has received rave reviews for his performance as Oswald 'Oz' Cobb in the HBO crime drama series after first playing the role in 2022's The Batman alongside Robert Pattinson.
Farrell's version of the comic book villain better known as The Penguin sees him as a rising figure in the Gotham criminal underworld trying to become kingpin following the death of crime boss Carmine Falcone.
For the role, Farrell wore extensive make-up, prosthetics and body suit, which caused him to sweat so much that he said he needed three industrial air conditioners to keep him cool and prevent the glue required for the prosthetics from melting.
The process of applying make-up and prosthetics reportedly took two-and-a-half hours and five hours on days when Oz was shown naked. The production shot for a total of 80 days.
The award marks another high point in Farrell's career following his early television role in the BBC's Ballykissangel, and his Hollywood breakout years with roles in Tigerland, Minority Report, Phone Booth, and SWAT.
Farrell entered rehab for drug and alcohol addiction after completing production of 2006's Miami Vice and rebuilt his film career working with directors such as Martin McDonagh and Yorgos Lanthimos and appearing in Hollywood blockbusters like Total Recall, Fantastic Beasts and the Dumbo remake.
His comeback culminated in his first Oscar nomination for Banshees of Inisherin two years ago, and he has since moved into television, leading both The Penguin and Apple TV+ detective drama Sugar.
The 48-year-old has a reported net worth of $80m (€77.2m) having earned large pay cheques for his roles in Minority Report ($2.5m), Hart's War ($2.5m), The Recruit ($5m), SWAT ($8m), Alexander ($10m), Miami Vice ($10m), and Banshees ($3m).

Farrell sold his former home in Los Angeles' Los Feliz neighbourhood for $5.3m in March 2023 before buying another mansion in the same area for $5.9m.
According to the Irish Independent, he also invested almost €8m in 14 apartments in the Spencer Dock, the Gasworks scheme in Dublin 4 and near Dundrum Town Centre in the mid-2000s, and he also has homes in Castleknock and Irishtown in Dublin 4.
In October, Farrell made headlines when he raised €774,000 for Debra Ireland, a charity supporting people with the incurable skin condition epidermolysis bullosa (EB), when he ran the Dublin Marathon, crossing the finish line with friend Emma Fogarty, who lives with EB.
