On Sunday, Rory McIlroy secured his first tournament victory since his history-making triumph at the Masters.

In front of a rapturous, partisan crowd at The K Club in Kildare, the Co Down man claimed a dramatic play-off victory at the third hole against Joakim Lagergren.

McIlroy made it to the play-off after holing a 25-foot putt for Eagle on the final green to join Lagergren on 17 under par.

After each birdying the first two play-off holes, Lagergren hit a shot into the water on the third, allowing McIlroy to claim his fourth win of the year ahead of the Ryder Cup.

"I thought it was going to be a nice homecoming, obviously coming home with a green jacket and all that, but this has been absolutely incredible," McIlroy told Sky Sports.

"This has exceeded all of my expectations. I'm just so, so happy I could play the way I did this week for all of them and get the win."

In addition to a memorable home victory, McIlroy also won $1.02m while Lagegren earned $660,000 for finishing runner-up, and the top 12 finishers all won six-figure prizes.

The $6m prize purse was one of the largest on offer on the DP World Tour, matched only by the Nedbank Golf Challenge

However, the $1m McIlroy won pales in comparison to the $4.2m he took home after winning the green jacket at Augusta and becoming the first European to win golf's grand slam.

Earlier this year, the Sunday Times Rich List reported that McIlroy has a net worth of £260m (€300m). Forbes, meanwhile, estimates his annual earnings at $80.8m.

The Holywood native has sponsorships with TaylorMade, Nike, NBC Sports/Golf Pass, Omega, Optum and Workday.

Earlier this year, he launched his TMRW Sports venture with fellow golfing titan Tiger Woods. TMRW Sports is a weeknight golf league in conjunction with the PGA played on a virtual course.

To date, McIlroy has won $108m in prize money, behind only Woods in PGA Tour history, and his 2025 winnings total nearly $17m.

On the DP World Tour, McIlroy has won a total of $66.2m (and €6.3m this year), although there is some overlap with the PGA Tour - both count majors and other prestigious tournaments to their respective money lists.

McIlroy's wholly-owned Dublin-based Rory McIlroy Management Services Ltd reported turnover of $36.1m and profit of $6.5m in 2023.

The company holds intangible assets valued at $162.9m related to McIlroy's patents ($135.8m) and trademarks ($27m).
