Katie Taylor may have wanted to close trilogy of fights with Amanda Serrano at Croke Park, but New York's Madison Square Garden is pretty good as far as consolation prizes go.
Bray fighter Taylor will face off against Serrano for third time in Manhattan in the early hours of Saturday morning Irish time after two narrow, disputed victories over the Puerto Rican pugilist.
She faced off against Serrano for the first time at MSG in April 2022, winning by split decision before Serrano pulled out of a second fight at the last minute.
Taylor subsequently lost to Chantelle Cameron, who stepped in for Serrano, before regaining her light-welterweight belts by bearing the Briton in November 2023.
2012 Olympic gold medallist Taylor is currently the lineal female light-welterweight world champion after retaining her belts against Serrano at AT&T Stadium in Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, last November.
Taylor-Serrano 3 will be broadcast worldwide on Netflix as the streamer continues its incursion in live sports after airing an NFL game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans last Christmas.
Taylor-Serrano 2 featured on the undercard of the fight between YouTube Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, which also aired on Netflix and was watched by an estimated live audience of 108 million viewers.
A reported 1.5m viewers saw the first Taylor-Serrano fight on DAZN, with both fighters reported to have earned seven figures. The combined purse for Taylor-Serrano 2 was $13m, and the pair will split $18m for the third fight.
The numbers far exceed anything Taylor or Serrano earned for other professional fights. Taylor took home $3m for the rematch with Cameron and $1m for fighting Delfine Persoon.
"Don't get me wrong, when we did Taylor-Serrano I, [Taylor] made a lot of money," Taylor's promoter Eddie Hearn told CBS Sports. "Taylor-Serrano II, she made even more money. Now, three comes around and she's doubling it.
"She's going to leave the sport financially in a wonderful position and she really, really deserves it. She's not really about the money at all. I don't think she spends a lot of money. She's very consistent and subtle with her lifestyle, she just loves boxing.
"They are both legends of the sport. I'm biased because Katie Taylor is one of my favorite fighters of all-time. For me, she's the best to ever do it, amateur and pro. But they need each other."
The latest accounts for Taylor's company, KT Sports Ltd, show losses of €48,300 and €45,800 over the past two years, bringing net assets down to slightly more than €1.5m.

The company lists around €758,300 in investment property assets and cash reserves of €663,600. The company directors, Taylor and sister Sarah Taylor, were paid €52,100 for the year.
Taylor has consistently rated as one of Ireland's most admired sportspeople for the past several years, topping Onside's list in 2024. She has only failed to top the table once since 2017. If she wins on Saturday, she'll almost certainly be number one again.
