While superstars who command large fees always make headlines, Business Insights looks at the top ten clubs when it comes to transfer profit.
At one end of the scale you have the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City, spending massive amounts of money to attract the biggest names in football, but on the other end of the market are the clubs generating these players and selling them on for eye-watering amounts.
Transfermarket has taken a look at club dealings between 2018 and 2022 to give the top ten clubs making money off their transfer policies.

Benfica benefitted from selling young talent Joáo Félix to Atletico Madrid, when the then 19 year old made the move from Portugal to La Liga in 2019 for a fee of €127.2m. The club also sold Raul Jimenez to Premier League side Wolves for €38m, along with Raul de Tomás joining Espanyol for €22.5m in the same window.
During the period when the data was collected, Darwin Nunez was the clubs biggest layout on a transfer, splashing out €34m on the striker, but the two times Champions League winners were able to sell the Uruguayan on the Liverpool for €80m.
Ajax come in second place, with a net spend on €379m in the black, a figure that benefited this summer from Manchester United's spending spree as Erik ten Hag returned to his former club with €152.37m in his pocket to take Anthony and Lisandro Martinez off their books.
The club's biggest outlay since 2018 was the €31.25m spent on former Spurs winger Steven Bergwjin.
