Auditor BDO has appointed Teresa Morahan of its Irish arm as head of the global industry technology, media and telecommunications (TMT). She will be the first woman to fill the role.

Morahan has served as BDO Ireland's head of audit, specialising in the provision of audit and accounting advisory services across IFRS, Irish and US GAAP systems while working with a range of clients, including large international groups.

She has also headed BDO's technology industry group and served as a member of the TMT industry team since its inception. In her new global role at BDO, Morahan will continue to be based in Dublin and work with clients in its technology sector.

Morahan replaces the retiring Scott Rodie, who commented: "I’m thrilled that Teresa will be taking over leading the TMT team.

"For several years now, Ireland has become a true global technology hub and a significant country for Technology companies.

Commenting on her appointment, Morahan said: “I am delighted to be taking over from Scott, who has done a fantastic job building out the team.

"TMT is an area which has thrived throughout the pandemic.  Having gained valuable experience over the years, I am looking forward to driving growth in such a crucial sector.”

Technology, media and telecoms has become a key area of focus for BDO international, and the TMT has representatives in more than 160 territories to assist technology companies ranging from start-ups to multinationals, working across a wide range of services.
