Rob Kearney has left the rugby field behind and recently married Jess Redden, but they have also gotten into bed together in the business world.
The former Ireland & Leinster fullback has teamed up with his soon-to-be qualified pharmacist & wellness influencer wife to invest in the POKO skincare company.
The company's goal is to help people to achieve better skin, whether to improve hydration or reduce the appearance of ageing or to help manage a range of skin problems, including acne, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dullness & dehydration.
The uni-sex product was something that attracted Kearney, with the retired sports star saying "Myself and Jess are both really excited to be partnering with a skincare brand like Poko. I find the stigma around male skincare in particular really needs to improve. Poko provides a unisex product to the market which I love."
Kearney, who has recently joined the Virgin Media Sport team for their coverage of the Six Nations championship in 2022, is no stranger to representing putting his name or face to a brand, having previously teamed up with the likes of Guinness and Newbridge, as well as being a brand ambassador for Audio during his playing career.
He has also invested in Bupa Fit startup app, while joining his brother, Sean O'Brien and former rugby star Jamie Heaslip in the pub scene too.
With her own army of followers online, Jess is no stranger to promoting products she has associations with, but this is a first for her alongside her new husband.
Reacting to the announcement, the social media influencer said "Poko is a very exciting brand which has enormous potential. They have a very strong set of values and really care about how the product is made and what ingredients go into it. That means a lot to me and Rob and it’s something that consumers are becoming more and more concerned about.’’
The couple is currently working on a vegan supplement line that Jess says 'really focuses on overall health.'
The company was founded in the couples home county of Louth, by entrepreneurs Justine O’Hanlon and David Hughes.
